This webinar will showcase the UK Data Archive's recommendations and tools to help research projects and groups plan how to manage and share data.
The UK Research Councils are committed to sharing and re-use of research data they fund and have introduced data sharing policies. The 2010 ESRC Research Data Policy is the first to introduce new formal requirements for data management and sharing plans as part of research applications.
Our tools have already been tested and implemented by a number of research projects and centres in the UK. You will learn about:
- our accessible data management checklist - we will highlight and discuss the key areas, role and responsibilities that are needed for managing data well
- our easy-to-use data management costing tool
- our model data management resources library and how it can be used to help research groups be better equipped to deal with new funding requirements
- what roles and responsibilities P.I.s, researchers and support staff can take on, and what additional support is needed from data services and institutions to implement effective data management and sharing and improve in-house capacity
What we know about research data management
While we already support social science researchers to manage and share data, the UK Data Archive has gained three special grants to investigate the data management and sharing practices of researchers and research groups. These provide a good evidence base for the tools we have created.How to register
