Staff vacancy: User Interface Developer

The UK Data Archive is seeking to appoint a User Interface Developer to join a team within the Technical Services section.

This small team is responsible for the design, development, quality assurance and maintenance of all aspects of the user interfaces pertaining to the Archive's product portfolio.

Among other skills and experience the successful candidate will be a postgraduate in a computing related discipline and must have production experience of:

  • using standards compliant HTML, XHTML and CSS
  • designing and authoring JavaScript
  • producing graphical content for websites
  • performing quality assurance of websites
  • configuration/skinning/customisation of Content Management Systems

This is a full time, fixed-term position for two years.

The UK Data Archive at the University of Essex is curator of the UK’s largest collection of digital data in the social sciences and humanities. It is also a partner in delivering the UK Data Service, an online portal for social science data, documentation and guidance. Both are vital resources for researchers, policymakers, teachers and students around the world.
