DATA MANAGEMENT PROJECTS
The Research Data Management Support Services Section of the UK Data Archive is starting two new projects in 2010 on bespoke research data management support and training for researchers and research centres . This is thanks to two grants awarded by ESRC and JISC.
The data management planning project is supported by JISC under the Managing Research Data programme, which aims to promote and support good data management and sharing for the benefit of UK Higher Education and Research. The UK Data Archive will work with ESRC Research Centres and Programmes to expand the implementation of data management planning procedures, enable effective data management practices and increase individual and institutional data management and sharing capacity in such research 'hubs'.
The data management training project is funded by ESRC as part of the Researcher Development Initiative, which supports a range of advanced and specialist training and development activities for social sciencists. This project will provide a programme of focused training for researchers and researcher support staff on the key issues pertinent to managing and sharing social science data.
